Nichelle (Nikki) Sterner

I am the Director of Lincolnway Villa Assisted Living. In 2017, after my twins were born, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to return to my job or look for something else. I was hoping to find something closer to home and with more consistent hours than my previous job. My mom told me she had seen they were looking for help in the dietary department at Wheatland Manor so I came and filled out an application. I started out in the dietary department as an aide and a part time cook. I was looking for more hours and the assisted living needed some help so I started training here as well. After almost 6 years of being a universal worker and helping out in the dietary department when they needed me I became the director. When I applied to work in the dietary department I never would have guessed this is where I would be now. I love my job here at the Villa. I enjoy the time I get to spend with the tenants and their families.

Pam Fitzgerald

I am the Dietary Supervisor. This is the only career I have had. I started as an afternoon Dietary Aide at 16 years old in 1978. Once I turned 18, I started cooking and doing any position in the department and the facility. I even worked in the laundry one summer to help them out. While I was a senior and throughout the next couple of years, I started taking classes to become a Dietary Supervisor. I got my certification on September 3, 1986, from Scott Community College. I became the Dietary Supervisor for Wheatland Manor in October of 1988. So that’s a total of 42 years I have been working in long-term care.  I love my job and the wonderful residents that I have met along the way.

Michael Weih

I am the Administrator of Wheatland Manor SNF and Lincolnway Villa ALP.  Long-term care is a second career for me.  After many years in the corporate world of business/management, I changed direction in 2006 and it has been the best move I could have made!  I have a business degree from the University of Iowa.  I went through the Nursing Home Administrator course at DMACC in Ankeny, IA.  I received my licensure in 2007.  Wheatland Manor is the only place that I have worked in long-term care and I can tell you that this is a place that has surpassed all of my expectations.  In terms of a great staff, a supportive community, and owners that always have the resident’s and staff’s best interest in their decision-making process, this has been a very fulfilling career.

If you or anyone you know has questions regarding this facility or any questions about long-term care please do not hesitate to give me a call.  We truly understand how difficult a decision like this can be for both you and your loved one.  We will help in any way that we can.

I’m the Maintenance Supervisor.  I’ve been working here for 35 years.  I started visiting the nursing home with a friend when I was 12 years old.  We liked visiting the residents and using the porch swing.  I visited regularly when my mother’s aunt came to live here in 1976.  She would give me daily updates on her day.  I started working at Wheatland Manor in March of 1986.  I love working around the residents and tenants at Wheatland Manor and Lincolnway Villa.

Brittni Harlson

I am the Director of Nursing at Wheatland Manor. I’m a local girl, graduating from Calamus-Wheatland High School. I took a CNA course through the high school during my senior year and completed my clinical hours at Wheatland Manor. I went on to receive my Bachelors in Nursing and Psychology at St. Ambrose University. During college I worked at Wheatland Manor during school breaks and summers, and interned at the University of Iowa Adult Psychiatry unit. I’ve spent my nursing career working in long-term care at Wheatland Manor, starting as a charge nurse, and recently taking over as Director of Nursing. Long-term care is my passion, and I love having the opportunity to care for and learn from our residents every day, and make their lives as fulfilling and happy as possible.

I’m married to my husband, Michael, and we have one daughter. We are avid Chicago Blackhawks, Cubs and Bears fans, but we rival between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones (Go Hawks!) In my free time, I enjoy reading, anything to do with true crime, boating, running, working out, long walks with our dog, traveling, and spending time with our friends and family.

April Carpenter

I am the Activity Director here at Wheatland Manor. I started in September 2021. I absolutely love my job! I enjoy working with the residents, in a group or one on one, making them smile or laugh just makes my day. I graduated from St. Ambrose with a degree in Business Management and Marketing in 2006. Since then, I have been working my way to find a place where I can make a difference in peoples lives and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work here with our residents and staff. My husband Brad and I currently reside in Wheatland. In my free time I enjoy camping, volunteering with several groups in town, taking weekend getaways and working on remodel projects around our house.
